Construction Worker Killed in Excavator Collapse

Sadly, a worker was killed in a construction site accident in Delray Beach. The man was inside a dump truck when an excavator collapsed and landed on the truck. The fatal accident occurred on October 9.
The incident happened at 1041 Lewis Cove, just off State Road A1A. Workers were demolishing a home when a CASE excavator toppled over. The front of a dump truck was crushed and its windshield was smashed. A construction worker was inside the dump truck at the time. Delray Beach Fire Rescue took him to a local hospital, where he later died. The worker operating the excavator, an unidentified man, was not injured.
A home surveillance camera captured the construction accident as it unfolded. The excavator was on a mound of dirt when it started teetering. The tractor slightly moved and it toppled over onto the dump truck, smashing through where the worker was sitting. He landed onto the ground.
Police officers as well as representatives from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are investigating, along with police.
