4 Injured in Pit Bull Attack

PitBill2

Pit bulls get a bad reputation for being dangerous dogs, and it’s clear why. Most dog attacks involve pit bulls because not only is the breed aggressive but also their owners do not know how to properly care for them and train them.

This often leads to serious attacks. This is what recently happened in Pembroke Pines. Four people were attacked by a pit bull in the area of 1400 Golfview Drive on the afternoon of June 7.

Fire Rescue units responded to the incident, in which there were two pit bulls involved, but one was contained by its owner. The other, a white and gray pit bull, was unleashed and loose when it started attacking. The dog bit four people total, including one child. A man said his daughter was the young victim. She tried to protect a younger child by scaring the dog away, but instead, the dog turned on her. She was bitten on the hip and buttocks.

All four victims were taken to local hospitals. None suffered life-threatening injuries.

Broward County Animal Care was called to the scene to handle the dog. The dog has been contained.

Neighbors say the pit bull has been a problem for a while, but nothing was ever done. There were several other bites by the dog in the past few years, but the county never took possession of the dog. Things were different this time around. The dog was taken away by Broward County Animal Care. It remains in their custody while they conduct an investigation.

What Makes Pit Bulls So Dangerous?

Pit bulls are known as the most dangerous dog. Most bites and attacks are caused by pit bulls. Here are some factors that make pit bulls dangerous:

  • Pit bulls have strong jaws, muscular builds, and a high pain tolerance, which can make them capable of inflicting serious injuries if they bite.
  • Originally bred for bull-baiting and later dog fighting, some pit bulls may have a genetic predisposition towards aggression. However, it’s important to note that individual temperament can vary widely within the breed.
  • Pit bulls, like all dogs, can develop behavioral issues if they are not properly trained, socialized, and cared for. Owners who encourage aggressive behavior, either intentionally or through neglect, contribute significantly to the risk of attacks.
  • Incidents involving pit bulls tend to receive more media attention, which can skew public perception. Pit bulls may be perceived as more dangerous, leading to more stories about them, and reinforcing the perception.
